BURDETT RUNS BEST MILE TIME AT STATES!!!

Congratulations to Cullin Burdett who competed at the New York State Track and Field Championships this past weekend.  Cullin placed 6th amongst New York State public schools in divsion 2.  Cullin ran his fastest mile of the season finishing in a time of 4:23.5.  The hard work, sacrifice, and will to continue against the odds paid off on Saturday morning.  The weather conditions were brutal on Saturday, with terrential rain falling as though it would not stop.  Cullin completed his warm up in the rain and prepared himself mentally to run.  From the onset the race was physical.  Several athletes collided into one another trying to jockey for position.  On the third lap, one of the athletes put his hand on Cullin's back to steady himself.  This move seemed to propel Cullin forward towards a great finish.  Please watch the full race video below.

Congratulations to Culllin and the spring track team for a wonderful season!!!

Burdett goes to State...Freshman comes close to record...

Cullin Burdett has been running since July 1st 2011.  On Friday June 1st it all came down to one race.  Cullin was the top seeded miler in the field and all of the pressure to perform was squarely on his shoulders.  He had just finished 2nd in the section in the 3200 meter run the day before.  With soreness from the previous day setting in Cullin had to find a way to allow is mind to overcome the pain.  Cullin ran a great race and with 150 meters remaining he left no doubt that he would fulfill the expectations that come along with being a number 1 seed.  Congratulations to Cullin who will be competing at the New York State Championships at North Cicero High School in Syracuse this Saturday.

Alex Monaco competed in one meet at the beginning of the season and was plagued by an injury which kept him sidelined for the majority of the season.  Many thought that his season was over.  As a freshman Alex could have said to himself that he will have next year and quit on the season.  Alex chose to continue to push forward.  Alex came to every practice and every meet while he was injured.  At the Westchester County Championships he came back with his best jump of the season.  At the State Qualifier Alex proved one thing to his competitors, coaches and teammates...The future for him will be bright.  Alex finished 2nd in the section in the Long Jump coming within 3 quarters of an inch of the school record jumping 19 feet and 9 inches.  Congratulations to Alex.
