NOEMIE BECHU STATE CHAMPION

Respect, Dedication and Hardwork are the pillars that have defined this track and field program for the past 6 years.  The culmination of our core values enabled our three senior leaders to overcome adversity and define their careers at the 2013 New York State Track and Field Championships.  In the most dramatic fashion Noemie Bechu won the first New York State Public High School Athletic Association State Championship in school history for a female track and field athlete.  Brenna Brown battled through a tough field of pentathletes to finish 4th in the state.  Cullin Burdett ran one of the best races of his career to finishing 9th in the state and running one of the fastest times in school history.

This was the greatest track season that North Salem has had in recent years. Congratulations to all of the SENIORS for completing phenomenal careers that were 6 years in the making.  Congratulations to the entire team for making this season so special.

Bechu, Brown, and Burdett advance to the State Championship

Bechu, Brown, and Burdett, advance to the State Championship!!!

This marks the 4th state championships in a row that the North Salem Track/XC program will be competing in.

Noemie Bechu qualified for the New York State Championships in the 100 meter dash taking second place in the qualifier with a time of 12.56.  On day two of the state qualifier Noemie won a sectional title in the 200 meter dash by running a 25.32 which is the second fastest time in the state in division 2.

Brenna Brown qualified for the New York State Championships in the pentathlon by winning the section with a personal best score of 2831.  Brenna is currently ranked 5th in the state in division 2 and 31st in the country in the pentathlon.

Cullin Burdett qualified for the New York State Championships in the 8oo meter run by winning a sectional title in a personal best time of 1:58.74.  Cullin is currently ranked in the top 10 in New York state for the 1600 and top 25 in New York State for the 800 meter run.

The Boys 4 x 800 ran the 2nd fastest time in school history with a time of 8:17.58 finishing second in the section at the state qualifier.  The team consisted of Micky Jacobsen (2:04.5), Addison Burdett (2:07.6), Jake Acito (2:01.5), and Cullin Burdett (2:04.0).

Congratulations to Brenna Brown who won her second Westchester County Championship in the pentathlon in 3 years.

This was the best County Championships in recent history.  Several of the Varsity runners ran personal best and won medals.

Please Join me in congratulating Alex Monaco and Noemie Bechu who broke their own school records in the Long Jump and the 200 meter dash respectively.

Alex jumped his personal best of 21'3.25 and finished 11th out of 55 competitors.

Noemie ran 26.43 (fully automatic timing) and finished 13th out of 71 competitors.

The girl's Varsity Sprint Medley Relay (Emma, Madison, Noemie, Allison) broke their own school record and qualified for Nationals with a time of 4:24.7.  This time places them in the Milesplit USA second team elite category.

Congratulations to Brenna Brown (pent 2642), Noemie Bechu (200 26.0), and Cullin Burdett (1600 4:21) who have all achieved the state standard for the State Championships.

Girls relay close to history as Cullin and Brenna rush toward gold...

The girls 4 x 100 record is 51.7.  On Saturday Emma, Maddy, Brenna, and Noemie ran 51.8 placing 3rd overall!!!  Cullin ran the best time of his career placing 2nd in the 800 meter run with a 2:01.  Brenna was back to form with her 2nd place performance in the long jump with a jump of 16-4.75.  Jake Acito returns with a strong performance placing 5th in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:02.
